Our team, with expertise in computer vision and image analysis, embarked on a project to revolutionize the way travelers interact with their surroundings. The solution involved developing a visual search tool powered by advanced computer vision algorithms to identify landmarks and provide relevant information instantaneously. We began by formalizing the project, studying various use cases, analyzing existing solutions, and understanding the data sources available for landmarks. The engineers then designed a neural network model capable of generating encoded vectors for images, allowing us to measure the similarity between the image captured by a traveler and a database of landmark images. By leveraging unlabelled data and applying techniques from visual classification to detect nuanced differences in landmarks, our solution adapted to provide accurate, real-time insights into the environment around the traveler. The integration of OCR and both high-and low-level graphical processing techniques further refined the model’s accuracy.
